Fence styles we install

Every garden boundary has a different job to do — privacy, security, wind shelter or simply a smart edge to the plot. We install feather edge and panel fencing, decorative slatted screens, picket fencing for front gardens, and low-maintenance composite systems. If you're not sure what suits your garden, we'll walk the boundary with you, take levels and recommend the style and height that will last longest for the money.

Why the posts matter more than the panels

Nine out of ten fence failures start at ground level, not at the top. Timber posts rot where they meet wet soil, and once one goes the whole run leans. We fit concrete posts and 6" concrete gravel boards as standard so no timber ever touches the ground, and set every post in a postcrete footing dug below the frost line. It's the single biggest reason our fences are still straight fifteen years on.

How we work on site

We start by stripping out the old fence and clearing the line, then set string lines and levels so the run is dead straight even across sloping ground — stepped or raked to suit the fall. Posts go in first and are left to cure, then boards, gravel boards and capping are fitted. We finish by clearing every offcut, screw and lump of spoil, and take the old fence away with us. Most residential gardens are done in one to three days.

Timber, treatment and aftercare

We use pressure-treated (tanalised) softwood as standard, which resists rot and insect attack for years without annual treatment. If you want a colour, we can stain or paint on site in the shades you choose. After installation, keep soil and borders back off the boards, clear leaf build-up at the base each autumn, and re-treat any cut ends or field-cut boards — that's genuinely all the maintenance a properly built fence needs.
